Rebar is needed in new concrete

Our road had been a hazard for years, with potholes and pavement that was buckling.

  • Finally, it was time for a much-needed repair.

The construction crew arrived, and I was fascinated by the process. They had to remove the old road and metal pipes, which I later learned were rebar. My dad explained to me that the rebar provided stability to the road and that 16ga galvanized double loop ties were used to keep it in place. The ties had loops on both ends that made it easy for the workers to secure the rebar together. I watched the process closely, hoping to learn how the ties were used to bind the rebar.
