Wire ties and construction

Our road had been a problem for years with potholes and buckling pavement. Finally, it was time for a much-needed repair. When the construction crew arrived, I was fascinated with their process. They had to remove the old road and the metal pipes, which I later learned were rebar. My dad explained to me that the rebar provided stability to the road. He also mentioned that 16ga galvanized double loop ties were used to keep the rebar in place. These ties had loops on each end that made it easy for the workers to secure the rebar together. I watched the process closely, hoping to see how the ties were used to bind the rebar.
